Federal and state authorities need to start offering grant money, not loans, to revive a business community teetering on bankruptcy, a small business coalition spokesperson said Thursday.

It's like the chicken and the egg, said Laura Drumm, a spokesperson for Second Wind, the 1,000-person coalition of small business owners rallying in Baton Rouge. We can't pay a loan because we don't have a business. But we can't fix and repair our business because we can't get any money. It's inexcusable that this city has not rallied behind its businesses.
