Residents of the Lower Ninth Ward will be able to receive their first delivered letters since Hurricane Katrina when the U.S. Postal Service's Bywater facility reopens July 10.
Despite large-scale destruction in eastern New Orleans, signs of recovery are reappearing slowly. Reopening the Bywater facility near the Industrial Canal's breach - and the return of operations in the USPS facility on Chef Menteur Highway in late 2006 - means residents are coming back, said New Orleans Postmaster Alan Cousin.See the full content of this document
