Nonresidential Construction Up Despite Homebuilding Decline

Summary


Despite another lackluster month for homebuilding in February, nonresidential construction rose 0.1 percent over January and was up 11 percent over the past year, the Associated Builders and Contractors said.

Citing U.S. Department of Commerce data released Tuesday, ABC said of the 16 nonresidential sectors, 14 showed year-over-year gains, including lodging at 44.8 percent, manufacturing at 28.1 percent and public safety at 27.6 percent. The two nonresidential segments with lower spending were religious construction, down 11.8 percent, and water supply construction, down 10 percent.
