New Orleans-Based Pan-American Buys Metlife Businesses in Caribbean

Local insurance giant Pan American Life Insurance Group has acquired a series of MetLife's businesses in the Caribbean and Central America. The purchase, representing more than $125 million in premiums and $675 million in assets, includes units in Trinidad & Tobago, Barbados, Cayman Islands, the Leeward and Windward Islands, Panama and Costa Rica.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
