Parents steered packs of toddlers through the entrance of Piccadilly Cafeteria on Clearview Parkway for the July 26 grand reopening of the popular franchise.

Inside, waiters carried trays of fried chicken and Jell-O for hungry children. Balloons tied to brass poles hung above the heads of a table of senior citizens dipping their spoons into bowls of corn. A small group of construction workers sat in the corner smoking cigarettes.

Standing against the back wall were three members of the famed Storyville Stompers brass band.

Piccadilly hired the Stompers to play at the reopening, and while it wasn't Preservation Hall, they were glad for the work.
