Louisiana still is not a construction magnet for workers around the country despite the widespread destruction left by the 2005 hurricane season, said the chief economist for the Washington, D.C.- based Associated General Contractors.

Ken Simonson, in New Orleans last week for AGC's Rebuild Louisiana Forum, said construction employment decreased in Louisiana from April 2005 to April this year while it rose in 47 other states.
