Prior to hurricanes Katrina and Rita, Louisiana exports reached $13.4 billion, a 7.4 percent increase compared with the first eight months in 2004, according the World Trade Center of New Orleans.
Louisiana was on course to break last year's export record of $19.9 billion, said Lawrence Collins, director of international services with Louisiana Economic Development. That will obviously change in the aftermath of the hurricanes but we still do not know to what degree.
