Baptist Community Ministries said today it is giving more than $420,000 to Tulane University Health Science Center's Sickle Cell Day Hospital.
The hospital, which is expected to open in October, will address a lack of sickle cell treatment in New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina, officials said. Since the storm, emergency room waits at area hospitals are long, so the sickle cell hospital's goal is to offer faster care to patients and a cheaper alternative to emergency room visits.See the full content of this document
