Fair Grounds Race Course wrapped up its 133rd season of racing March 27, ending a tumultuous year in which the track faced bankruptcy, changed ownership and strove to improve its image through facility upgrades and increased purses.

But owners and breeders say the Fair Grounds needs to continue to upgrade purses as well as barn, dormitory and back stretch support staff infrastructures to elevate thoroughbred racing in New Orleans.
