Gno Credit Union Resumes Metairie, Mandeville Operations

Summary

GNO Federal Credit Union is offering services once again in Metairie and on the North Shore. The Metairie branch at 3105 Lime St. suffered severe damage to its first floor but was able to reopen its drive thru. Members may contact the credit union to check on their safe deposit boxes at that location. GNO's Mandeville branch at 1291 N. Causeway Blvd., Suite 3, is also open. GNO's other two branches in Mid-City and eastern New Orleans still have major damage.

Hurricane Katrina prevented GNO from opening any of its four branches' doors for 21 days, although members still had access to their accounts, said Marketing Director Mia Perez. With the help of Neighbors Federal, a Baton Rouge-area credit union, GNO was able to reestablish its call center days after the storm, Perez said. GNO is also a member of a network that allows its members to use more than 2,000 credit union branches throughout the country to conduct transactions for free.
