Four Groups Team Up to Build Habitat Home in Hammond

Summary

A crew of volunteers from the National Remodelers Association International, Kansas City Habitat for Humanity, Platte City United Methodist Church in Missouri and local Southeastern Louisiana University students in Hammond will raise the walls of a Habitat for Humanity house Monday.

The Kansas City volunteers are building the home for the Ledoux family at 10:30 a.m. at 805 E. Merry St. as a part of Habitat for Humanity's Operation Home Delivery program. The house will add to the more than 500 Operation Home Delivery homes built along the Gulf Coast post-Katrina. This is the fourth Operation Home Delivery project taken on by Ginger Ford Habitat for Humanity. Ginger Ford Habitat will "pass the hammer" from Kansas City to the affiliate and on to the homeowners. The Kansas City Habitat for Humanity sent 12 homes to Tangipahoa Parish after Katrina.
