Flood Plan Adds Protection for Two City Neighborhoods

Summary


With hurricane season right around the corner, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Sewerage and Water Board has a couple more New Orleans neighborhoods covered.

A $61.7 million drainage system in Broadmoor and Uptown, two flood-prone neighborhoods, includes new covered canals and will increase pump capacity, said Col. Peter Rowan, district engineer for the New Orleans District of the Corps.
