Sheriff's departments in Louisiana will receive more than $19.3 million in grants from the federal government for damaged incurred during Hurricane Katrina and the ensuing levee breaches in New Orleans.
Sen. Mary Landrieu's office said the money will come from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, with more than $10.6 million slated for the Orleans Parish Criminal Sheriff's Office to build a temporary 500-bed jail.See the full content of this document
