Kayla Breaux's family used to call her "go-go girl" because she smiled when they packed up her things to go anywhere. Kayla went many places.

Any regular at The Esplanade, Clearview and Lakeside malls would have recognized Kayla, rolling through the corridors in her wheelchair, dropping in to visit her favorite shops, whose owners were her friends. Kayla didn't speak with her voice, but she laughed at movies in the Clearview and Elmwood theaters, where she spent many afternoons. And, even though she ate through a tube, Kayla loved eating out, frequenting restaurants where the staff knew which table would best accommodate her needs.
