Although the New Orleans Police Department is losing officers, Police Superintendent Eddie Compass said Carnival 2004 will be well policed.

The Mardi Gras season will continue to be NOPD's strong suit, Compass said. Crime decreased 42% during the two-week Carnival in 2003 compared with the same time in 2002, he said.
