St. Tammany Parish Added to Federal Disaster Declaration
St. Tammany Parish has been included in the Federal Disaster Declaration for FEMA disaster aid for individual assistance. Residents of St. Tammany Parish who evacuated for Hurricane Gustav or received damage to property can register for assistance either online at www.fema.gov or by calling (800) 621-FEMA.

Habitat St. Tammany West Reopens Offices, Stores
Habitat St. Tammany West has reopened its office, Home Store and ReStore. Its staff is is in cleanup mode, and the group is seeking donations to repair homes that were damaged in Hurricane Gustav. Volunteers are also needed to assist with Habitat repair and construction projects.
Jones Walker to 'Fully' Reopen New Orleans Office Friday
The Jones Walker offices in New Orleans will partially today and be fully operational Friday after closing for Hurricane Gustav. The Lafayette office reopened Wednesday, and a release from the firm said it "hopes" to have its Baton Rouge office open by Monday. Jones Walker offices in Texas, Georgia, Florida, Alabama and the Washington, D.C., remained open throughout the week.
Louisiana Spca Rebuffs Animal Rescue Groups
The Louisiana SPCA has learned that several animal groups have allegedly entered New Orleans without authority to go onto citizens' properties to remove animals. "If this is occurring this is essentially theft of New Orleans' animals," LA/SPCA director Ana Zorrilla said.
Ochsner Clinics in Southeast Louisiana Reopen Today

Few Open New Orleans Businesses Are Bustling
City residents began trickling back into the city Wednesday, returning to find streets still littered with tree and other storm debris and that many of their homes remained without power. The few businesses that had re-opened were bustling.
Minimal Damage at Nasa's Michoud Facility, Assembly Facility Reopens
Workers who stayed behind to secure NASA's Michoud facility, where external tanks for the space shuttles are built, report no injuries and minimal damage to the site in eastern New Orleans. NASA's Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans is fully operational and reopening today. Employees will conduct safety inspections of the facility with the goal of resuming normal production operations of the space shuttle external tank's assembly line Monday.
Rite-Aid Reopens 4 North Shore Stores
Rite Aid has reopened four of its North Shore stores that were affected by Hurricane Gustav. A total of 170 Rite Aid stores are open in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama.
Allstate Sets Up Mobile Response Units in Metairie, Slidell
Allstate has set up mobile response units in Metairie and Slidell to help policyholders affected by Hurricane Gustav begin the claims process as soon as possible. The units are set up at Home Depot at 143 N. Shore Drive in Slidell, and at Lowe's at 3640 Veterans Blvd. in Metairie.
Alltel Wireless Donates Free Minutes, Texting to Hurricane Evacuees
Alltel Wireless is adding 1,000 free nationwide minutes as well as unlimited text messaging to customers' accounts from areas where mandatory evacuations were ordered in preparation for Gustav. The 1,000 free minutes and unlimited texting will be available to customers for use from Aug. 29 through Sept. 12.
Capital One Continues Reopenings in Greater New Orleans Region
Capital One Bank will reopen 35 additional locations today that were closed because of Hurricane Gustav. In the greater New Orleans region, branches reopened include the Airline and Causeway locations in Metairie, Causeway, West Esplanade in Metairie, Elmwood, Gretna, Westwego, French Quarter, Boutte, Luling, Northside in Gonzales, Highway 59 in Mandeville, Military Road in Slidell, Boston Street in Folsom, Highway 21 in Covington (opening at noon), Gause in Slidell and Pearl River.
Some Stores at Clearview Mall in New Orleans Reopen
The following stores at Clearview Mall will opened at 10 a.m. today: Bed Bath & Beyond, Dollar Tree and Wow Cafe & Wingery. The AT&T store and PJ's Coffee of New Orleans will open at noon.
